Ilmarinen´s and Barona´s new service, Job Match, changes the idea of job fit

Physical ailments, lack of skills or motivational problems might mean a person and the job no longer fit one another. The effects of declined working capacity can be seen in the everyday life of the individual and the workplace - as well as in the employer´s bottom line. Even if an employee is no longer the best fit for their current position, it is possible to find them a new, more suitable position.

Ilmarinen and Barona are launching a new kind of service called Job Match which looks for early solutions to meet the risk of lowered occupational health, skills or motivation, not only on the individual´s, but also the entire job market´s, terms. The service is available in Finland, where Ilmarinen operates.

Many workplaces recognise these challenges but have no efficient options to overcome them. It is possible to achieve powerful results by bringing all the available possibilities of the entire job market to bear on each situation.

In the Job Match service targeted at large corporations, a team made up of occupational health representatives from Ilmarinen, Barona and the client's organisation guide the employee toward a new career.

A BETTER FIT MIGHT BE WITH A DIFFERENT EMPLOYER

In Finland, sick leave, disability pensions and on-the-job accidents cause 5 billion euros worth of work to remain undone annually, as stated in the Tekemättömän työn vuosikatsaus 2015. The challenge is to place the right people in the right positions.

"The Job Match service helps to find a new job or new tasks for an employee who finds it difficult to manage in their current job." Jaakko Alamäki, Vice President, Barona

“The Job Match service helps to find a new job or new tasks for an employee who finds it difficult to manage in their current job. The same person might be completely capable in another job or profession. The new service provides everyone with a meaningful way to remain employed,” describes Vice President Jaakko Alamäki, Barona.

CHANGING YOUR THINKING WORKS - SERVICE PILOT PROVIDES GOOD RESULTS

Changing working life is a fact. Nowadays people could have several different professions and employers over the course of their career. Both employees and employers need to change their thinking. The same job might not be the right fit throughout one´s career.

Job Match service provides the company with a responsible and solution-focused approach to take care of their employees. Service Director Mika Paananen, Ilmarinen

Job Match service provides the company with a responsible and solution-focused approach to take care of their employees. At the same time it is a way to take care of well-being and productivity in the workplace and to shoulder corporate social responsibility. When people remain in working life and work in jobs to which they are suited, productivity increases and expensive disability pensions decrease. We are very pleased with the results of the pilot, ” comments Ilmarinen´s Service Director Mika Paananen.

The strength of the new service is the multi-person team whose co-operation ensures individual solutions. For example, a knowledge worker suffering from burn-out can find their spark again in real-estate. Experiences from the Job Match pilot have been very encouraging. The service has placed employees in new positions that are the perfect fit for them.
